TLDR: As of July 2022, Rocket Arena is unlikely to receive further updates and will likely be sunset towards the end of 2022 unless increased player activity warrants a stay of execution. Rocket Arena needed to be free2play to survive not even a price reduction to $1 would not ensure its survival or delay its inevitable demise. Unfortunately for Rocket Arena, no matter how much the developers slashed the retail price or how many extra cosmetics they added to the base game (further devaluing the Mythic Edition), it would never be enough to ensure Rocket Arena’s survival in fact, it would do little but cement its “dead game” status in the eyes of the gaming community. What makes the failure of Rocket Arena so unfortunate is that at its core, it was an excellent game with likeable characters, fun gameplay and a gorgeous aesthetic that would appeal to fans of Overwatch, Paladins and Fortnite, three titles which have enjoyed continued success for over four years.
